the past week…for the most part sucked!

I understand that working in “corporate America” is a gamble – even when the international hub of all retail resides in Bentonville, Arkansas – but damnit, I’m smart and attractive and likeable and all that, and yes, in my case I think smart is an understatement.
I will have been at my current employer for 4 years in August – I’ve set my goal to stay for 5 to give the apperance of stability on my resume… we’ll see how that works out. I’ve had 3 different positions, all linked to each other and all created for me – even the first one. However, unfortunately, I’ve pretty much over performed in each of these positions so much so that I’ve worked myself out of a job…
So on Friday I got the news that our Brand Management team is being “disbanded.” We were told that we would be going back to whence we all came – some to QA some to Product Development, etc. In my previous life I was on the packaging team… my EVP sees me still on her team but heading the project management for her soon to be team of 65+ This is all very exciting, but still I have to go through the interviewing process and wait for the stamp of approval from people that don’t me and only have a piece of paper to judge ME.

It should be and exciting time and all that good stuff, but still I am not one to be too keen on uncertainty. I like to know what’s going on in my work world and right now I don’t… so wish me luck!

for my PEEPS!

Yeah, so its a cheezy title… oh well…

I hope everyone had a happy Easter. I received some fabulous pictures… Here’s Stella in her Easter ears…

Libby looked oh so pretty in her yellow Easter dress.

Here’s to SPRING!!! Hopefully summer is fast approaching!

The debut of Stick Ari and Maud Crawford – the band…

This past weekend was the debut of Stick Ari! What or who is Stick Ari you might ask? … Great questions. Ari lives in Little Rock so she isn’t here sometimes… so we created Stick Ari to take out with us – if you have 3rd graders it’s much the same theory of Flat Stanley.

As you can see her “lip gloss is poppin.”

Anyway, we went to see Maud Crawford. It was the first time I’d seen them but Zack et al had seen them a few times before. Its one of those bands that was stumbled upon and now I think some people’s schedules are planned around it — not that there’s anything wrong with that.

Maud Crawford = Maud Crawford [mawd kraw-ferd]: A) a highly respected lawyer who mysteriously disappeared from her Camden home on March 2, 1957. Crawford’s case was never solved, even after officials scavenged the Ouachita River, tore-up parking lots and ransacked the town in search of her body. It is now known as the most widely publicized unsolved mystery in Arkansas. B) A down-to-earth, solid-hitting, soul-grabbing southern rock band that brings a twist of not only the country and rock classics, but also long-lasting originals, and up-beat cover songs that will guarantee to bring you to your feet. —Although the band’s name may suggest a sudden disappearance, the music of Maud Crawford is destined for survival. And just as you think you have labeled this band, they bring out their original head-banging rock tune “I Tried” and Mountain’s “Mississippi Queen.” —Maud Crawford consciously chooses to perform cover songs that share the down-to-earth edge of their originals. Some of those cover songs include “Heart of Gold” by Neil Young, “Summer of ’69” by Bryan Adams, “Tuesday’s Gone” by Lynyrd Skynyrd, and “Lonesome, On’ry, and Mean” by Waylon Jennings. Live, Maud Crawford carries out intricate harmonies and brings an up- beat, dance-your-heart-out energy to audiences of any age. They have been seen at several venues in Northwest Arkansas and plan to expand their fan-base to rock and country audiences nationwide. —Excerpt from a Biography written by Virginia Wietecha, staff writer for Carroll County News …

They were really great and I’ll probably make a stong attempt to go see them again!

We got a great picture of all the girls…
On Saturday afternoon, we went to a shower for Cole. Erin hosted a lovely shower. The invites were really cute – the theme was a Garden Hat Party – however it was super cold so no garden and I couldn’t find a sassy hat so… Either way it was fun and Cole got some really great gifts!

Sad Snow Day

Today was a “snow day.” The weather crew predicted 4-6 inches of snow and we were all extremely excited about it! And if it would not have snowed and we would have all been at work today, it would have been absolute hell!

As you can see, it was pretty pitiful… and there was no sledding to be had. I went on a walk with my mom. She attempted to start a snow ball fight, but to know avail.

Here’s me infront of a Magnolia tree – by the time we walked back by it, ALL the snow was already gone. I must say it was pretty bad this morning, even the University canceled classes which is pretty rare…

Any way, I worked from home today, which is always nice! Hopefully this is the real end of winter. I’m very ready for warm weather, patios and margaritas – not that you can’t have margaritas in the winter but they just aren’t the same without the patio!

sooooo sick

Yeah so I’m super not feeling good today. I think it’s food poisoning.

On another note – My sister Katie moved to Chile yesterday. They arrived safely but all their luggage did not follow suit. They’ve been promised it will be delivered to the hotel tomorrow so that’s good. They are enjoying the sights and the bars and the Chilean people and the bars. They are in Santiago for a few days then moving to a permanent location in Vina del Mer – which means vinyard by the sea. I’m sure they will have a blast there – wine and beaches doesn’t get much better.

3 weeks and counting…

Well I’m really pretty proud of myself – I haven’t had a coke in 3 weeks!

So what’s been going on…

  • Valentine’s Day was great! Mike sent me some beautiful flowers in a really cool vase which apparently was the selling point! But they were all very pretty together. We went to dinner at Tapinazo’s which was good but we definately think its more of a warm weather place where we can sit on the patio. Then we went to Stir to celebrate Lane’s birthday.
  • Saturday night was the Stock the Bar Party – Olive Us Are Getting Together for Brad and Jennifer! It was a BLAST! Everyone had a fabulous time and we polished off way too much alcohol – who is surprised
  • Bible Study ended on Monday night which is good and not so good – Good because I never really got into this study and bad because that was really the only time I got to see all the Benton County girls… we’ll have to make time with out Beth Moore.

Pregnant Friend Tally has increased by two – Melanie and Leigh are both due in late August – nothing wrong with Virgo babies!

This weekend is Jennifer’s Bachelorette Party in Kansas City – it should be just as fun… Erin has done a great job at pulling everything together.

Ok so that’s my update… more soon!

the last one…

last coke
This was my last coke. Period!
I know what you are saying “yeah, she’s said this before” but I really do mean it this time. This is part of my plan to loose those elusive 25 pounds. I’m also giving up meat for lent – still going to eat fish/other seafood but no meat = beef, pork or chicken.

I was in a few food production plants yesterday and I was not at all encouraged to continue eating processed food. I didn’t even go in the “kill” part of the plant but it definitely turned me off of the chicken I saw coming off line.

This will include my mandatory meal on Saturday (or anytime) at 2 in the morning after a night out — Baja Chicken Chalupa and Mexican Pizza with no Meat or Red Sauce. I know many people will be sad about this – it’s a long standing tradition. So here are my apologies:

To the snarky Taco Bell drive thru meow window order taker – I will miss you most of all, especially meow the one who thinks its HI-larious to quote movies meow such as Super Trooper when talking to inebriated customers meow. I know you will miss me as well – its always fun to try to interpret no meat or red sauce through the speaker – which normally ends up being no COW and no PIZZA sauce.

To Mike – who now ever so patiently just orders for me, I know he will miss my demands for Taco Bell

To Liz – who will miss my pictures of my food being sent to her at all hours of the night, for she was there for the inception of this greasy treat. It all started with an actual Mexican pizza with no meat or red sauce made ON Chalupa bread rather than tostadas crisps.

FYI – Here’s the sugar content of coke, regular and diet…
