7:40 am = the twilight zone

I’ve come to the realization that 7:40 on week day mornings doesn’t really exist – it’s either 7:30 or 7:50…
I know this because I try to leave the house by 7:30 each morning for work knowing that this is more than enough time to get there, technically I could leave at 7:40 but as we know – that doesn’t really exist! If I’m not out of the house by 7:30, it will inevitably become 7:50 in a mere matter of minutes – and then I am late to work because I get behind multiple school buses…

So, buyer beware – don’t ever ask me to do anything at 7:40 in the morning because I may just get lost in some sort of space time continuum!

Garage Sale update and notice of Resale Shops NOT to shop at!!!

My sale was a great success! I got rid of so much stuff. It’s always amazing what people will buy and what they won’t… in total I made about a $1000 so I think I win!

I was a bit disappointed that more of my clothes didn’t sell, but that just wasn’t the clientele of my sale – clearly the boat mention in the adds drew a different crowd – they weren’t interested in my clothes. So my great plan was to take my remaining clothes to a resale shop. I went through the lot piece by piece and folded it neatly and took strict inventory. I went ahead and took the t-shirts and other plain items to Goodwill. By my calculations, at and average of $5 a piece, I was expecting $700 total, but would be happy with $500 if they took it all.

My first stop was Plato’s Closet in Fayetteville. I was there as it opened but was not the first one in line to sell clothes – no worries, I waited… when it was my turn, I helped get all my bags onto the counter and then was told it would be about 30 minutes and I could leave if I wanted – NO WAY – I stayed very close to my clothes. They had no interest in my formal dresses nor my business attire, but I had plenty of “going out clothes” to last someone a few years…. well, out of 85 pieces that she sorted through, she only was interested in 14 and was only going to offer me $37.10 for them – WHAT? really? I told her no thank you and that the pair of boots she personally wanted cost 3 times that to begin with and there was not anyway I was going to take the insult of $2 a piece! I’d rather give it away that that!!!
So my advice to you on Plato’s Closet – DO NOT SHOP THERE, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO SELL TO THEM – STAY AWAY, PLEASE TELL YOUR FRIENDS….

2nd stop was a place in Bentonville “Check My Closet.” I remember that’s where lots of people in High School would go to buy their homecoming and prom dresses so I thought this would be a great place to sell my formals and my suits, etc. NO! WRONG AGAIN!!!! The owner of this shop could not have been any ruder to me (and Melanie was with me too). It was ridiculous.
So my advice to you on Check My Closet – DO NOT SHOP THERE, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO SELL TO THEM – STAY AWAY, PLEASE TELL YOUR FRIENDS…

So here’s my plan – I’m keepin’ the clothes and will have another great sale one weekend in September when there is not a football game! However, if you are interested in a private showing, or are in need of a formal (sizes 2 and 4 and 6), feel free to give me a ring!!! I’ll hook you up!

So all in all, the sale was good, as I mentioned earlier. I do want to say a special thank you to Lindsey and Jason… they helped me move ALL of my crap from Dallas – they are great friends to have done that AND still talk to me today!!! Love you both!

Yard Sale this Saturday!

Boy, do I have a lot of CRAP!!! I’m a self proclaimed packrat for sure. So this weekend I’m going to have a YARD SALE. I’ve got some really good stuff actually. All good things for a first apartment or if you like bar pariphinalia – I have a bunch of that!
I’m even going to sell a boat and some boat motors if I can.
If you need more info, let me know!

… more snarky t-shirts!

I’m really excited about my latest t-shirt purchase – I’ll have to keep it a surprise until it comes in and that’s also a ploy to get YOU to come back to reading my blog… hehe.

A hint… it’s one that’s recently been seen on a blonde that might not really know if Chicken of the Sea falls into this category!

Also check back for great Vegas pictures and a rather interesting story about how some middle age woman took mega offense to a comment I posted about Top Gear in the U.S.

Until then, let the good times and the dice on the craps table ROLL!

A New Addiction

I’ve got a new addiction – snarky t-shirts. My gateway was the elusive seach for a “Bitch is the New Black” t shirt a few months back. I came across some great finds and now get the email updates when new t’s are available. My new favorite site is http://www.palmercash.com/. Here’s an example – also what I rocked out in on Saturday night!
For those of you without super power reading ability AAAA stands for Anti-Acronym Association of America. It’s fantastic!
*******
We had a very busy and fantastic weekend!
Friday night we went out for Amber’s Birthday and met everyone at Tapinazo’s for drinks and tapas, we couldn’t stay long for we were going to the theatre!!! Mike and I went to see STOMP at the WAC – it was really cool. Then we went to OPO to watch Maude Crawford. Cole and I attempted to dance, but my shoe choice for the evening was not made for twirling… and the attemted dancing lasted only one song.
Saturday afternoon I got new tires at Sam’s Club- WOW that was fun…
Saturday, Mike and I had a great dinner at Pesto Cafe then went out and met pretty much everyone we knew out on Dickson. I think a great time was had by EVERYONE! It was fabulous weather and fabulous company all around!
It definately put me in the mood for a great summer!

Sunday was craft day and SLEEP day – I made baby shower invitations for Melanie’s upcoming FABULOUS shower!

Don’t forget, Tuesday is Mike’s birthday!

The Return of the Octodog!

…apparently also known as the Redneck Seafood Dinner!

This circled back to me via an email from AB. It’s really odd that this came up twice in just as many weeks, considering I’d never seen it before.

one contact to top it off

So the past 36 hours haven’t been that great…

Last night I thought I would be nice and make dinner for Mike, he had a long day of, well doing nothing but still, I thought this would be a great idea. He wanted some turkey steak things we had in the freezer and some Rice-a-roni. I should mention I don’t really read directions and like to make things up as I go which could some day lead to my demise. Anyway, as I have mentioned before, me and Rice-a-roni don’t get along especially with the addition of vermicelli. So in typical fashion of not reading directions I proceeded to create a cheesy mush, I actually didn’t think it was that bad but clearly Mike disagreed. As for the turkey steak things – they can be broiled, so that’s what I thought I was doing, again – WRONG. Once I thought I had things partially under control I went to rest my weary legs and sit down – all of 3 minutes later, we found out the smoke detectors work – REALLY WELL! So after batting the smoke away from the detectors and establishing that nothing was salvageable, we headed to Taco Bell.
I promise I can cook and I really am pretty good at it!

So we move on into today… As I’m getting ready, running late like everyday… really at this point I don’t consider it running late – it’s what I do every day so not that its a pattern I’m just happy to leave on what used to be on time is now EARLY. Anyway, I was getting ready, put my left contact in and I sure thought I put my right contact in – but as the day went on, it was pretty obvious that the right contact in fact did not adhere to my face – boy was that a fun drive home!

There were other annoyances throughout the day, but that’s for another time!

Tonight did get better, got to see Amanda and Cole at Danielle’s house and I managed to make Mike some mac and cheese without burning it or under cooking it or anything! Yay, go me, baby steps…

In other news, Mike’s birthday is on week from Tuesday – on May 20th! Write that down!

click next…

I thought it would be a fun and inspiring experiment to click the “next” button on the blogger dashboard… Here’s some interesting things I found as well as some other stuff worth thinking about.

  • there are a lot of blogs en espanol! no hablo!!! je cependant parle fran├žais

  • Lindsey has some competition with Little Snails and Pony Tails…http://littlesnailsandponytails.blogspot.com/
  • great quote: “Accept that some days you are the pigeon, and some days you are the statue. Be the PIGEON!”
  • a bunch of if’s – if Mike had a Wimerimer (he hates them), if Mike had a really bad hair cut (which he does not) and if Mike had really poor taste in decor, not sure about that one, I don’t think so but who would ever know? THIS WOULD BE TRUE…
  • someone named their child Korde, eh… but I do like the name Finn
  • ilovepinkmink.blogspot.com is not as cool as it should be neither is stylecocktail.blogspot.com
  • i’m sad that i already know that mike won’t be here on my birthday

  • drug court with Judge Gunn is on public access tonight (it may be on every night actually)- anyway… some one actually came up to my mom the other night at dinner and told her that they were watching aforementioned “show” and that they saw “billy” (former student) on drug court – for reals? that just happened! Don’t be on drug court because this person WILL see you, she WILL tell my mom…
  • there is a baby girl name Lochlan – too close to the Lochness monster… bad idea YOU MUST THINK ABOUT THESE THINGS how will names come back to haunt your teenage daughter?
  • it is always THE MOST DRAMATIC ROSE CEREMONY EVER!

So that pretty much wraps it up – musings for the evening. I think that was a fun and productive test of personality!
