Tall Boys…

This photo is from October 2006… good picture of me and Mike, however the key to this picture is the ever present “Tall Boy” beer…

This had been deemed a staple for Mike on more than one occasion by fellow party goers, tail gaters, random passers by and probably a family member or two for apparently the past 2+ years. I never really thought too much about it, but they just keep coming up in conversation and now in random photos in my “gallery.”
For those of you confused, a “tall boy” is defined as a 24 oz can of beer. These were popular back with Gypsy was open because Coors Light tall boys were super cheap, so really, why not? Now they are more novel than anything else.
When I was stocking up on beer for the first game, this would be the day of the Crawfist Boil, in my partial hangover mixed with the zeal and glee of a new football and tailgating season, I went a little overboard at the beer store. I got my bottle of vodka for the following day of heavy tailgating (Absolout mind you, not that cheapo crap), along with a case of Miller Light regular cans AND a case of Miller Light tall boys. Being that we are by no means alcoholics (well, especially not Mike) this was A LOT of beer and vodka.
Anyway, it’s 4 games in and we still have tall boys in the fridge, and you will be happy to know that YES there actually is still some vodka left – yay me!
So I figure we have enough tall boys left so that they will continue to be a staple in Mike’s hand at some point during each Hog game festivity and so everyone around will always know the world is right, so long as the tall boys make it out of the ice chest!!!

I’ve been waiting for a long time…

…to wear THIS shirt!

Today, no hurricane nor other natural disaster will stop me from wearing it. Today is the Arkansas – Texas game in Austin. A long time rivalry! Unfortunately it may be a bloodbath… but for the sake of all things holy in football, I’m wearing the best shirt of all today!

If you can’t read the fine print, it says I’d rather go to HELL than Texas…

I don’t include Dallas in the whole hot mess that is Texas as a whole. I love Dallas… but when it comes to football, I hate Texas! =)

The last time the HOGS played in Texas, I was living in Dallas. We didn’t go to the game, but watched it at the local gathering place for the Razorback Club of Dallas. When we won, we did pack up and head to Austin to party on 6th street! That was a great day!

When I first moved back to Fayetteville, the HOGS played Texas in Fayetteville in front of a sell out, standing room only crowd. Liz actually made it out this game with me. Here’s us … quite a long time ago, tailgating on Lewis.

Hogs and Kisses… gracie

Gameday Mimosas

Many of you may find it hard to believe, but even I can not drink beer at 8 in the morning! So we started Saturday morning off with Starbucks and Baileys and Mimosa’s! The Hogs faced off against Alabama on Saturday with an 11:30 kickoff – to get in the regulated amount of tailgating, that involved our appearance at Leverett parking at 8 am sharp. The drinks and company were good times – the game, not so much. There’s no need for me to rehash the slaughter, Mike and I didn’t even go to the game. Ah the joys of tailgating with a rather large TV and an HD receiver…
Most everyone trickled back before the 3rd quarter and we all enjoyed the nice weather and always eventful conversation. We did miss Ari this weekend, she had a huge wedding to orchestrate… sorry to all you stick Ari fans – she didn’t come out either…

Crawfist Boil and Actual Birthday Day

Every year before the first game, we all get together for a Crawfist Boil – no not misspelled – that’s a longer story for a later time…

This year was the 6th annual Crawfist Boil and it also happened to be my actual birthday! The THSC (Turkey Hill Social Club) Girls got me a fabulous cake and even had everyone sing to me! The cake was so pretty and yummy too! The top layer was pina colada and the bottom layer was strawberry – it was almost too pretty to eat, but we saved the top pig. It’s still in the freezer! =)

A day at the beach … or as close as you can to the beach in Arkansas = Stephanie’s Pool!

We all got the text early Saturday morning – “Open invite to come to Steph’s pool – BYOB – noon on…” or, as it was in our case until huge and threatening thunderheads roll in!

It was a great and relaxing afternoon. Stella brough Lindsey and Jason to play too! Stella is such a fish – she has no fear – watch out Mommy! I taught “Mommy and Me” swim lessons for about 8 years and it was so much fun to be back in the water with a brave little girl – that truly was one of the most rewarding jobs I’ve ever had – anyone need private swimming lessons?

Of course, what’s a pool party with out a beer, Stella even knows this.
We all had a great time and can’t wait to do it again soon! Thanks Stephanie!

Beer, Pizza and Baseball

We’ve been to two Naturals games in the past month – both times with friends who get free tickets and both times we’ve all gone out for pizza before the game – we’re pretty predictable. The Naturals are the new minor league baseball team in Northwest Arkansas, the stadium is in Springdale and yes they do server beer which is really probably the best part about going to any ball park! The first game we went to was against the team from Midland, TX – they were really good and because of this, by 10 pm the game was only in the 4th inning and $5 a beer, that would make for an expensive night, so we went back to the house and popped in a movie. And in true form, I fell asleep as I always do once I get curled up on the couch! We made it through the 7th inning of the second game. Maybe next time we get invited to a game, we can all make it through the entire game and get to see the fireworks.

Makin my way to Denver

I’m in Denver this weekend for a fabulous premier party for Sex and the City: The Movie! I arrived yesterday via Tulsa – I’m not a fan of the Tulsa airport. I did get some great shopping done prior to my flight!

There was a family that was at the ticket counter with me waiting for it to open – their screaming child didn’t help the ticket counter open any earlier. That was 2 hours before the flight was scheduled … in my 2 hours I had a tasty meal of chicken tenders (of course) and multiple gin and tonics. Apparently the little screaming girl held ALL her crazy in until she got on the plane — as we were in line to board the plane she was so friendly and giving everyone high fives and winking at people – strangers ate that up. I cringed! I knew what was looming… she SCREAMED the entire flight. Also there was a crazy old woman next to me, but she kept to herself after a few odd comments – her John Grisham paperback kept her occupied.
Our flight attendant was super creepy – she was all about flirting with the equally creepy businessman in the row opposite me – so much to the point she was practically sitting on the arm rest = his lap.
The flight got a little bumpy on the descent – which apparently is common – I don’t see how predicted turbulance can ever be common – if you know it’s there – fly straighter or something! Just like if you know there is ice on the road – you don’t go 90 mph! Around then is when I really started regretting that 3rd g&t!
Once we landed, the Denver airport was a welcome site! It seems to be a very nice and new (or at least well renovated) airport! I made my way to baggage claim and was pretty proud of myself for navigating through the air port – I know it really isn’t that tough but I have this fear of airports… anyway I finally found Elizabeth after multiple “where are you” “I’m by the Frontier sign” conversations – there are LOTS O FRONTIER signs!
Chad was really excited to eat Mexican food last night so we rode the train downtown to a Mexican place that has a 2 margarita max!
Today is the day! The premier of SEX AND THE CITY MOVIE!
Stay tuned….

  • great quote: “Accept that some days you are the pigeon, and some days you are the statue. Be the PIGEON!”
  • a bunch of if’s – if Mike had a Wimerimer (he hates them), if Mike had a really bad hair cut (which he does not) and if Mike had really poor taste in decor, not sure about that one, I don’t think so but who would ever know? THIS WOULD BE TRUE…
  • someone named their child Korde, eh… but I do like the name Finn
  • ilovepinkmink.blogspot.com is not as cool as it should be neither is stylecocktail.blogspot.com

Don’t be on drug court because this person WILL see you, she WILL tell my mom…
