… more snarky t-shirts!

I’m really excited about my latest t-shirt purchase – I’ll have to keep it a surprise until it comes in and that’s also a ploy to get YOU to come back to reading my blog… hehe.

A hint… it’s one that’s recently been seen on a blonde that might not really know if Chicken of the Sea falls into this category!

Also check back for great Vegas pictures and a rather interesting story about how some middle age woman took mega offense to a comment I posted about Top Gear in the U.S.

Until then, let the good times and the dice on the craps table ROLL!

Where’s Timmy?

Presley, my dog, has many talents – she is a tad OCD and organizes her toys and she also knows them all by names that I give them… she had duck, mailman, pig and cow – she puts them in size order and keeps up with them very well. She always knows where they are too. I named her new toy Timmy which makes for great fun when I get to ask her “Did Timmy fall down the well?” She gets so excited about this and runs around like crazy to find Timmy. It’s a great throw back to Lassie!
Thankfully, Timmy has yet to drown in the well.

Adventures at Sam Moon

If you don’t know what Sam Moon is, you are missing out! It’s a fabulous warehouse style import adventure of all things accessorizee! I love going there when ever I get the chance! I tried to go on July 4th – thinking it should totally be open, low and be hold IT WAS CLOSED! It was a sad afternoon. However, I went back on Saturday.
As I was browsing and fighting my way through the throngs of crazy women (no man ever makes it past the front door)… I over heard the irony of all ironic conversation… A very much wannabe fashionista 12 year old girl made the comment to her extremely over accessorized mother: “I’m gonna buy me that fake Louis over there” to which her mother replied “Your daddy’s gonna be in China next week, he’ll just get you a real one.” Bless their hearts…

There is also a great shoe store in the Sam Moon complex and I got two pairs of fabulous shoes that are sure to hurt my feet, but they are freakin’ cute!

Milestones for babies!

As previously mentioned (more than once)… my group of friends stay in the 80th percentile of consistently being pregnant… I feel that’s a good term of measurement because I hear about a lot of percentiles ie my baby’s head circumference is in the 60th percentile, my baby is in the 108th percentile of height and weight, my baby’s middle toe is in the 4th percentile in the fact that it should be longer than the big toe – ya know, everyday things like that.

Anyway, so as nature has its way, these babies all grow up so fast! Stella celebrated her FIRST birthday and Dunning and Anna Claire celebrated their 1/2 birthdays!!! Very exciting for their families and their fan base! All these precious babies have blogs of their own, they can be found in the “real people” blog list to the right… it’s amazing that these kids type so well – what percentile would that be considered?

Grammar Police – I vs. me

I have a feeling this will be a recurring theme – but hopefully an educational event!

This one is a huge pet peeve of mine… you see it misused everywhere and by everyone!!!
Today’s lesson: when to use I and when to use me.

When making a caption on a picture or talking about an event involving yourself and others, it is often confusing as to the best way to refer to oneself. Here is how to decipher between I and me…

A good test is to say the sentence using only the singular pronoun you are using to refer to yourself…. you would say “that’s me on the top of the mountain” so at the same time you would say “that’s Bob and me on top of the mountain.” The adverse to this would be to say that’s I on the mountain, consequently, you would not say that’s Bob and I on the mountain…

Here’s the example from the Chicago Manual of Style – feel free to use this link or ask me directly for any grammar questions!
Pronouns
Q. I am having trouble deciding if it is “Page and I” or “Page and me” in “Please let Page and me know.”
A. “Me” is correct, because it’s the object of the verb “let.” When you’re having trouble with “I” vs. “me,” try the same sentence without the double object: Please let me know. (You wouldn’t even consider saying “Please let I know.”) The reason “Page and me” sounds odd is that we’ve had it hammered into our brains for so long that “Page and I” is the correct usage when the phrase is the subject of a sentence (“Page and I are going,” not “me and Page are going”). People seem to have developed a fear of the “Page and me” construction. But when it’s the object of a verb or a preposition, it’s correct: Call Page and me when you’re ready. Give the money to Page and me.

Pink Trash Ball 2008

Planning has officially begun!
Mark your calendars (and get a baby sitter) for Friday, September 19th – George’s Majestic Lounge! Ultra Suede will headline the event – it will, of course, be FABULOUS!

It’s the Great Cupcake!!!

You’ve heard of the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown??? Well, this is soooo much better – it’s the Great Cupcake! I got this fabulous new toy today at Williams Sonoma – I love that store so much. I’ve threatened on many occasion to register there even though I’m not getting married or having a baby and even when I do have a baby – I may truly register at WS. I mean really, the kid and baby daddy will have to eat right?

I can’t wait to make a Great Cupcake Cake!

Also, for those keeping up, my PB Cup Chocolate Cake was a hit – or so I heard.

A day at the beach … or as close as you can to the beach in Arkansas = Stephanie’s Pool!

We all got the text early Saturday morning – “Open invite to come to Steph’s pool – BYOB – noon on…” or, as it was in our case until huge and threatening thunderheads roll in!

It was a great and relaxing afternoon. Stella brough Lindsey and Jason to play too! Stella is such a fish – she has no fear – watch out Mommy! I taught “Mommy and Me” swim lessons for about 8 years and it was so much fun to be back in the water with a brave little girl – that truly was one of the most rewarding jobs I’ve ever had – anyone need private swimming lessons?

Of course, what’s a pool party with out a beer, Stella even knows this.
We all had a great time and can’t wait to do it again soon! Thanks Stephanie!

Peanut Butter Cup & Chocolate Cake

Tonight I made a PB Cup & Chocolate Cake for Mike – hopefully it will help cheer him up. I don’t really like peanut butter mix in stuff – I like Reese’s PB cups and Reese’s Concretes from Shakey’s but not really things like PB cookies and stuff. But hopefully he will like it. Here is what it’s supposed to look like – my cake is still too hot to frost so I’ll have to do it tomorrow.

I’ll let you know how mine turns out…
